Smoke detector. Battery dead. Three years. That's the conversation we have most often. Saturn Electrical Services Inc handles hardwired smoke detector installation across Las Vegas, NM with documented testing at every unit, every interconnection, and every battery backup.
Code in most of Las Vegas, NM requires hardwired interconnected detectors with battery backup. Every bedroom. Outside each sleeping area. Every level. We install to that standard with full interconnection verified and documentation provided.
Detectors have a hard 10-year expiration. We replace in batches and document each unit. Most homes across Las Vegas, NM have detectors past expiration.
For homes with attached garages, gas appliances, or fireplaces. Installed on the same interconnect line.
Nest Protect, First Alert Onelink and equivalents. Full app setup and notification configuration.
We provide unit-by-unit documentation suitable for inspectors, insurers, and tenants. Full compliance for Las Vegas rental regulations.
"Inherited a house in Las Vegas, NM... Saturn came out, found six of eight units past replacement date, replaced them all... The documentation they left came in handy when I refinanced."
— Stephanie R.
"Rental property compliance... Saturn handled all three units, gave me documentation per unit, and the insurer accepted it without further questions."
— Mark D.
"They mounted one detector slightly off-spec... came back the next day, repositioned it, and updated the documentation. What mattered was that they fixed it."
— Karen L.
The little test button on your smoke detector doesn't test what most people think it does. When you press it, the button triggers the alarm electronics — the speaker, the light, the interconnect signal. What it doesn't test is the actual smoke-sensing chemistry inside the detector.
That's the part that fails first. And it fails silently. This is why every fire safety authority in the United States recommends replacement on a 10-year schedule regardless of how the unit appears to function.
Every 10 years, regardless of how they appear or sound on the test button. The chemical sensors degrade silently, and most detectors in Las Vegas homes are well past replacement age without their owners realizing.
Ionization detects fast, flaming fires. Photoelectric detects slow, smoldering fires. Current best practice in Las Vegas, NM is dual-sensor units that detect both.
If you have an attached garage, yes. Cars idling in attached garages produce CO that migrates into homes.
Battery-only units, yes. Hardwired units that connect to the home's electrical system require a licensed electrician for code compliance and for what insurers in Las Vegas, NM expect to see.
When one detector senses smoke, every detector in your Las Vegas home alarms simultaneously. Interconnection buys critical minutes.
